Early 20s for sure, doesn't sound like most pop songs from 2016-2019 at all, fits better with 2020-2022

Early 20s. Even though it came out in late 2019, it was the number #2 most popular song in the Billboard Year End 2020 chart. Plus the sound and style of it sounds nothing like the late 2010s and what Post Malone usually did in the late '10s. I remember this song was played non-stop on repeat in early 2020 before the pandemic began and was still being played quite often even after the pandemic began.

Late 2010s in my book. Seems to be in line with the indiepop/bedroompop feel of the 2010s decade.

Sounds nothing like Late 2016-Late 2018, that's for sure. This kind of bedroom pop was dominant in 2020 with songs like Supalonely, Deathbed, Adore You, F 2020, etc.

That's not entirely true, the bedroom pop scene of 2016-2019 had plenty of songs similar to circles, the difference is none of it got mainstream and it wasn't anywhere as polished. But my point stands, the stylistic and sound design approach all seem very set in a 2010s mindset. Especially as time goes by in my ears it's increasingly more 2010s sounding, especially if you compare it with newer releases which seem increasingly removed.
