Seriously??? I get that it's mostly out of touch boomers saying this but even then it doesn't matter if you're 20, 40, 50 or 100 you'd have to be smoking some serious crack to think that the 00s and 10s are basically the same decade. Or that they just don't like 21st century decades so they decide to blur it together as the "shit era".

Declinism bias mixed with the fact that "two thousands" and "twenty tens" just don't roll off the tongue as easy as "seventies" "eighties" and "nineties". Making it harder for people to discuss the two decades and, by extension, differentiate them.
Sprinkled with survivorship bias because the 00s and the 10s aren't as old as the 90s & before

A lot of older people also insist on calling 2022 "two thousand twenty two" lol, which might make it all seem like one big "two thousands" to them.
The latest year that makes sense for is "two thousand twelve" IMO, but I normally stop saying "two thousand" after 2009.

That's the big reason why a lot of people lump the 2000s and 2010s together; the 10s simply do not have a catchy name The two thousand and tens? Too wonky and long The twenty tens? The most common choice but very boring The tens? Never seen anyone use this in real life and it doesn't sound like a decade's name at all The tenties, tensies or tennies? Lol, no. The teens? That's already a word... They all sound clumsy and nondescript It's kind of like the same with the 2000s but "the two thousands" is catchy and recognizable enough That's why nobody cares about the 1910s either

They're just out of touch. I don't know how someone couldn't notice the rise of web 2.0, Smartphones, High Speed Internet, LCDs replacing CRTs...

I read an article where this guy was saying bringing the 00s back is pointless because we "never left the 00s" then went on to use some of early 00s music and pop culture to prove why we're still in the 00s.
