Early 2010s felt like artificial happiness. It didn’t feel true or genuine. They’re the most recent era that’s cheesy to me, even cheesier than people claim the 1980s and early 1990s to be.
I’m not nostalgic for my cringe middle school years, nor any of the culture of the early 2010s. Politics were in a better state than today. As unpopular as this sounds, they seemed to be slowly heading towards now, especially 2011/2012 onwards. I had a slight feeling back then that all the progressiveness and liberalism would blow over with backlash.

Early 2010s comes to mind lol ( scene of a woman dancing in an empty mall with broken down windows)

They were in denial that a Great Recession happened and ruined the economy. Or who knows early 2010s pop culture was their way of mourning or grieving with the losses that occurred during and after The Great Recession. The early 2010s pretended life was good when it wasn’t. The mall that I picture is Rolling Acres Mall, Randall Park Mall or Dixie Square Mall lol.

Even more horrifyingly, most Americans still don't understand how destructive Republicans are to the economy. It's also sad that the early 2010s (particularly 2010 itself) were the best time of my life and I'm realizing that I'll never be able to bring those days back.
