2020 was a game changing year with COVID, required vaccines, social distancing and mask mandates. Despite COVID, 2022 so far still doesn’t feel like a world apart from 2019 pop culturally. Asides COVID, people don’t go about their lives any differently than 2019. Music and fashion has had some changes that were bubbling in late 2018 and 2019 which are now full blown, but still not a complete departure from the late 2010s. We haven’t entered a new era for movies, TV and gaming. 2020s pop culture is still piecing the puzzle together and figuring out what it wants to be.

omg @ all the ppl talking about lockdowns; please, way more than that changed in 2020 because of covid. People still wear masks on the streets, we have to carry vax certifications everywhere, people Don't sneeze in public anymore (and the few ones that do get fearful looks)... When was the last time you've seen someone talking about having the common flu in public??? Pandemics aren't just the subjects of pretentious science fiction movies anymore. 2022 is worlds apart from 2019... This is factual None of that applies to the UK and i'd imagine a few other countries as well. The only thing we do still related to COVID is masks on public transport, but that is about to change since the PM just announced mask mandates are going away a few days ago. The UK isn't the world. Some countries have recently reinstated mask mandates, many (like my country, WITH A POPULATION OF 200 MILLION PEOPLE) never removed mask mandates to begin with And even if things aren't as bad as they used to be in 2020, who cares? Covid changed the world not just thought lockdowns and masks but also politically and culturally Why you people keep denying that the world of 2022 is different from the world of 2019 is beyond me

yeah covid has changed quite a bit and it’s crazy to deny it. it has definitely changed things in terms of social behavior. not only are a lot of people more cautious when it comes to disease but many people, myself included, feel more comfortable going out in public with a mask on, rather than having their face and identity exposed. a lot people like the privacy that masks provide, and it also acts as a scarf for when it’s cold. because of that i think masks will continue to be popular even after covid reaches endemic level. not everyone will continue to wear them tho but i think most people will. it’s weird seeing people without masks sometimes. i almost like their “naked” in a way. also, masks in general have become a political thing on its on, causing differences amongst people.
vaccines have become very significant in our culture to the point where you can’t eat in restaurants or go to bars or travel internationally to certain places without a vaccine and negative covid test and in certain places you can’t even be hired for a job without one. i even saw a commercial for the pfizer vaccine the other day
also covid has created a whole culture around getting tested and keeping track of your health more often. i’ve heard predictions saying that in the future (2030s-2050s) we will regularly monitor our health with the technology that we’ll have by then and will be able to detect certain diseases more early on. maybe covid and the 2020s could be planting the seeds for that
also we’ve gained new vocabulary since covid started. “social distancing”, “flatten the curve”, and “vaxed” would mean nothing to someone pre-2020
the same way that 9/11 made people more patriotic, irrationally fearful of islam, and increased airport security and changed the way we travel. covid is at an even higher level of impact. even if covid restrictions and masks mandates were more lenient some other parts of the world, every i wrote can still apply to many other places and probably most places to some extent
