John, why do you not like the Chainsmokers? They put out the best popular songs of the 2010s decade with Coldplay. They are known for chasing whatever trend is popping at the moment, if EDM is big they chase EDM, is trap is big they get a trap feature, if pop punk is big they do a pop punk song and their entire identity is now a punk artist etc etc, there is nothing original about this group at all, they just copy and follow whatever trend is going on, they are unable to come up with ideas that are original or melodies that are distinct and don't sound like anything else. The music they put out is very generic and very TJ MAX soundtrack vibes. On top of being generic their songs are also in past ads like Stare Farm, hard to get down to a song when you just heard it playing 100 times on tv. Their songs often are lacking creativity, basically using the same song over and over again. They offer nothing. So many hits, so many shows and videos. Yet, their music just seems to run in a circle around nothing. Do they actually have anything to say? They are legit the Nickelback of pop music, & Coldplay is another one that went generic in bland in recent years
