The Cat in the Hat (November 8, 2003)I feel like this movie would do better if it came out in 2000. I actually thought the movie was from 2000 when watching it. I was surprised to know that it came out in 2003. The movie was kind of cheesy. I still enjoyed it though lol. I got a minor late Y2K era or extremely early 2000s vibe from this movie. The Girls Next Door (March 4, 2004)I feel like this movie would do better if it came out in 2001 as the teen pop girls were abandoning their girl next door image for a more raunchy style. Judging by the poster, fashion and font, the movie looks early 2000s. Funny how these movies came out in the fake mid 2000s transition period of mid 2003 through mid 2004.

I keep thinking Cat in the Hat came out in 2000 lol Other movies I can think of is Transformers ( should have been released in 2006, would have smashed everything) The amazing Spider-Man 2012 should have come out in 2014, the gap between SP 3 and AS was too small and people didn't care as much. Mario Bros the movie should have come out in 1989 during PEAK early Mario Mania Fast and the Furious 4 should have come out in 2007 instead of 2009, the cliff hanger ending of Tokyo Drift was too long of a wait

I feel like Osmosis Jones would've done better if it was a 90s movie as opposed to a 2001 film.

Movies that I believe should’ve came out early or later.
Scooby-Doo 1 - Released in 2002 (should’ve came out in Early 2001).
Don’t Tell Mom That The Babysitter Is Dead - Released in 1991 (should’ve came out in 1989).
Baby Boy - Released in 2001 (should’ve came out in 1998).
FF The Spirit Within - Released in 2001 (cinematography wise, should’ve came out in 2006).
SW Episode III - Released in 2005 (should’ve came out in 2008).
Slumdog Millionaire - Released in 2008 (should’ve came out in 2012).

Each of the Star Wars prequels, much like the original trilogy, came out three years apart, enough time to keep the hype going for each film. Not to mention the dark and edgy atmosphere fits perfectly with the culture of 2005 (i.e. emos) IMO the first Scooby-Doo is a lot like The Cat In The Hat, in that it has a Y2K vibe despite being after Y2K. In my opinion, 2000 would've been more fitting.

A LOT of early 2000s 2D animated movies likely would've done better had they come out in the 90s, when 2D animation was king. Looney Tunes: Back In Action comes to mind immediately. Given how similar it is to Space Jam, it REALLY should've come out in the late 90s, like 1998/1999.
