I agree with yours more than mine. Britney Spears declined in 2007, until she came back in late 2008 like you said. She still performed well on the charts in 2004. Her song, "Toxic" was huge in 2004. I guess her marriage antic in 2004 is silly compared to shaving her head in 2007 lol. Usher's music was everywhere throughout summer 2004. I think a couple of his songs made it onto the Billboard summer countdown that year. Ashlee Simpson's music career seemed like a failed or botched potential. I think the incident where she was caught lip-syncing and then got booed ruined any chances of a successful music career for her. If My Chemical Romance is considered mid 2000s emo, then summer 2005 being their peak matches up as I think of spring and summer 2005 as peak mid 2000s and peak mid 2000s emo. Great job! I was looking forward to your post. Oh god Bahamen thats right, Ill add a few more Shakira :Buzz: Spring 2001 Peak: August 2006 Decline: Early 2007 Michelle Branch :Buzz: Spring 2001 Peak: August 2003 Decline: Fall 2003 Vanessa Cartlon :Buzz: December 2001 Peak: Summer 2002 Decline: Fall 2003 Nelly Furtado :Buzz: Summer 2000 Peak: Summer 2006 Decline: Summer 2007

EVERYONE was wearing The Black Parade shirts that year. Welcome to the Black Parade became their biggest hit, and songs like that and Teenagers gave rise to MANY AOL/MSN away messages. I wouldn’t even say they really declined until 2008. By that point, people were getting sick of emo. Because that’s the other thing, 2006-2007 was the peak of emo and MySpace period. And as for Britney Spears, she received lots of attention and popularity in 2007, but for all the wrong reasons. 😆

He was EVERYWHERE that year. Especially with his movie 8 Mile and the song Lose Yourself. White Stripes peak was 2003, and Modest Mouse’s peak was 2004. They released their biggest albums and songs in those years. You’re correct that Usher peaked in 04, but he was buzzing WAY before 2001. Like, his popularity goes back to 1997/1998.

And I am not saying MCR was not popular in 2007 but by Spring 07 their popularity was starting to wane. ) 06-07 was the peak of Myspace tho I agree. Spears was def popular in 07 but you know what I mean, her mega everywhere blink and you still see her era ended around my Prerogative song came out in Fall 04.

Eminem will never be as popular than when that 8 Mile move came out, it was on equal energy as Vice City releasing that Fall.

Quite possibly the single most iconic song of the entire 2000s.
