I think we're starting to see it take shape. I think the shift into core 2020s culture will correspond with COVID no longer being a big deal. That said, I voted for 2023.

That said, I voted for 2023. moves are being made rn, but pinch zoom to see the effects, example at the expense of me sounding like a broken record Fall 2003 " it still feels like the 90s" Fall 2004 "ughhh so what Friends ended earlier in the year, it still feels like modified 1999 ! " Summer 2005 " emo? so what it's still the 90s, this decade did nothing but war" People were constantly up until about Late 2006, saying that the 2000s was nothing different than the 90s, if you look back into archive posts on the web like Retro Junk back in 2004/2005 you will see it. Around 2006 is when Early 2000s was finally disclosed as a different era and 2008 it became official. When all the classic TV shows started ending it sent a shockwave to most forum posters that we were in fact living in a different era or eras the whole time. But you need several years to be able to see it more clearly, I myself don't need to pinch zoom as I can see these trends a mile away but it's not always as apparent.

Fall 2003 - August 2004 was ( it was a transition to lead up to it & build the foundation ) Similar to how Summer 2001 built the foundation for the early 2000s.

I said 2022 before but I'm gonna change my mind to 2023.The early 2020s is still in the air, though we do have hints of what 2023 (the core / mid 2020s) will bring.
Though I am not differentiating core from mid. I see 2020 a a "core" 2020s year if we're talking about identity. I assume you mean mid '20s.
