Internet Explorer technically dominated in the market share during this time, but let’s face it: Internet Explorer sucks. It was also long in the tooth and tech geeks such as myself wanted something new. Then Firefox came out in 2004 and it was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR. It has tabbed browsing, which Internet Explorer wouldn’t get for another two years. It had support for add-ons. It was fast as hell. Way more stable and didn’t crash all the time like Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer felt old and crusty by this point, but Firefox was badass and young. Even the logo looked badass back then (now it’s been oversimplified to hell). But by the early 2010s, Google Chrome was taking over in terms of popularity, and by 2012, it was now the most popular web browser. Didn’t help that Firefox OS, Mozilla’s attempt at a mobile operating system flopped, whilst Chrome OS became a staple of shitty oppressive classrooms throughout America, killing off the fun Windows computers of the 2000s in school.

I still have PTSD when I hear the words "Internet Explorer". What a slow, buggy mess of a web browser that was! Kids nowadays should be grateful that they no longer have to experience the pains of pages taking 2 minutes to fully open, videos frequently buffering and the browser prone to blank and crash.
Firefox was definitely ahead of its time. I remember being very impressed by its speed when I downloaded it on my old laptop back in 2009. Though by the early '10s, my favorite browser was probably Opera since it had a built-in server chat option.

I like how it has things like a built-in VPN, built-in ad blocking, and way more customization options than Chrome. Oh, and it's not made/ran by a monopolistic Big Tech corporation.

Before switching to Chrome (which I am still on to this day) I used Firefox. I think I switched some time in the late 2000s.
