A sort of opposite thread to the "Most Consistent Decade" thread. What would you say is the most inconsistent decade of the bunch? In terms of technology and pop culture.

Out of this list I would say the 90s

The 1960s is not in the choices. It was the most inconsistent out of all of these. From the list though, I would say the either the 90s or 2000s.

Does this answer the question ?This show took place during every era of the 90s + one year of the 2000s I could say the same for Ed Edd n Eddy existing in every era of the 00s + one year of the 90s, but that doesn't make the 00s really consistent. The fact is that both the 90s and 00s had certain consistent elements to them, including shows that ran through the decades, but that doesn't make them consistent decades in the slightest.

Dunno why everyone says the 2010s were consistent and unchangeful. You had so much political shifts and smartphones became the norm. Meme started being posted everywhere. Social media also become much more integrated into daily life. 2010 and 2019 are different worlds.

In retrospect, it's kind of surprising how you still had cellphones with antennas in the mid-2000s. But they did exist, and whilst not as popular as they were in the early 2000s, which in turn was not as popular as the late 90s, they still had a presence. It wasn't until the late 2000s that antennas on cellphones truly died off. The Blackjack i607 looks like a late 2000s cellphone to me (I associate full keyboard cellphones strongly with the late 00s). Also, it's interesting how Samsung did make cellphones in the 2000s, and unlike most cellphone companies of the 2000s, not only did they not decline in the 2010s, they actually got MUCH bigger.

It's all about perpective, the 2010s weren't entirely consistent (no decade is) but compared to the 00s, 90s, 70s and 80s (this last one is contested)? The 10s were very consistent.

It is more consistent than the 00s and 90s but not so sure about the 70s and 80s. Then again, I don't know too much about those decades to judge. It's just people generally act as if the 10s had very little change from start to finish when there's so much the changed. Like the smartphones we're all glued to now weren't even the norm at the start of that decade. So much stuff, I cba to name it all.

The kind of change the world saw during the 70s can't be mirrored by any other decade but the 60s and the 90s. As for the 80s, it's contested... Technology changed more during the 80s than in the 10s (please don't bring up smartphones again, we got it the first 200 times). But the 10s were definitely more changeful for poltics, i mean, i could definitely see Bush senior being elected in the early 80s (if he had Reagan's charisma ofc) but Trump would NEVER win the 2012 elections. So there's that. I feel like all the interesting political changes of the 80s happened in 1980-1981 and then the decade's politics just froze in time, until the early 90s when 80s conservative started to gain the reputation it has today. With the 10s, it's the opposite: most of the political changes happened right around the middle of the decade. For things like fashion/art/aesthetics/music, i have no idea which decade was more consistent though. 80s or 10s?.

To be fair, I also feel the same way about the 70s. If you want a decade that's aesthetically INCONSISTENT, the 60s, 90s, and 00s all come to mind. As for music, I'd personally have to say the 2010s were more consistent. In the 80s, you started with disco's lingering popularity, new wave, and classic and arena rock all being popular. Synthpop came in hard by the mid-80s (particularly after MTV blew up), and then by the late 80s, you started having hair metal and early hip-hop come in. The 2010s were not entirely consistent, but there are constant variables such as electronic music being popular, and rock NOT being popular. At the start of the decade, you had electropop, teen pop, indie pop, and dubstep, then later on, various shades of EDM, giving way to various shades of rap like mumble rap and emo rap before finally arriving at the rise of bedroom pop. Movie-wise, the 2010s were consistent to an almost boring degree. Throughout the decade, you had superhero flicks dominating the box office. The 80s were much more inconsistent in that regard Me being a tech and gaming geek, I personally see the 2010s as more consistent than the 80s. This was actually one aspect that changed DRAMATICALLY between the early and late 80s, and it's not even disputable. The 2010s are certainly more inconsistent in this regard than some give it credit for, but in some respects, it really was the same throughout: smartphones, realistic looking 3D games, tablets. You get the deal.

Gaming graphics from 2010 look either cartoony or extremely grainy compared to 2019 graphics depending on the visual style.

The 80s were def not consistent IMO, the technology and pop culture changed pretty fast. Politically it was pretty consistent but, now to be fair, 1989 was actually kinda detatched from the rest of the 80s politically.
