PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - A California city is planning to give universal basic income (UBI) to transgender and nonbinary residents regardless of their earnings level. Transgender residents in Palm Springs, California are eligible to receive a UBI of up to $900 per month solely for identifying as transgender or nonbinary — no strings attached. www.q13fox.com/news/california-city-universal-income-transgender-residents

That's weird. I'm not exactly getting what the purpose or justification behind doing it is either.

Congratulations SJWs. Looks like you got what you really wanted. Free money just for being “unprivileged”. What’s next? They’re gonna pass a law where minorities can discriminate against whites because “they’re racist”?

Really... so anyone can just claim they're trans or nonb and get this money 🙄🤦♂️ This is only going to further all the woke BS we see every day. People making their sexual orientation or race their personality. People playing up their "oppression" because they're a minority. White people "changing" their race to black so they can gain appreciation from liberals. God this shit really needs to stop honestly. It's not even like its rebellious anymore when the US government and the government of the most powerful state in the country, and most corporations have a strongly liberal agenda nowadays.

Sounds like an experiment on vulnerable and/or gullible people.
Oh wait...

Maybe I should make an entire thread, but honestly I think this thread in general is a good thread to post something I want to share. Social justice culture is long-in-the-tooth at this point. Like in the late 2010s sure it could be obnoxious but it was at least understandable given that Donald Trump was a shitty president and the alt-right was a major movement. But now that Trump has left office, the myriad of changes made after the George Floyd protests, and the decline of the alt-right, I feel like SJWs have really accomplished their goal at this point. I highly doubt Trump will regain office now that people see him for who he really is + the diminished base of the alt-right. I don't want society to turn conservative again but rather, I want there to be a nuanced approach to politics instead of just identity politics, like what we had in the late 2000s/early 2010s, when people talked about things like income inequality, foreign policy, drug legalization, among other things, all things nowadays rarely talked about in the media. I hope we start moving back in that direction soon.

This would make sense if it was some kind of limited financial support for people who are intersex and are in need of medications or paying for life threatening surgeries they can't afford or those who have very severe gender dysphoria and are unable to pay for services that provide support. Then again if you want to start doing that, you would need to do it to so many marginalized groups to be fair.
The worse part is that non-binary, in a number of cases, can just mean someone who vaguely looks androgynous or decides to cross dress a bit and then call themselves non-binary with certain pronouns overnight and so in that context it seems beyond ridiculous to offer universal basic income even more as it doesn't make any sense.
