Just like today, the early 2000s are having they’re revival, including on the younger generations who didn’t experience it fully, we’re early 80s culture appreciated to this extent today has for the early 2000s 20 years ago ?

The 80s revival actually started in 2002 and was everywhere, it kicked off very strongly
Vh1 also rebranded to a 80s color scheme full of former 80s actors reality shows

When I think of the early 80s, I think of arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. There’s actually compilations of early arcade games dating back to the PS1 era, so not only was it absolutely being appreciated in the early 2000s, but I’d argue, the late 90s as well.

You had movies like the wedding singer and stuff in the 90s but 2002 is when it blew up to change pop culture

Let's also not forget that post-punk, one of the quintessential genres of the 80s (especially the early 80s), made a comeback in the early-mid 00s with the post-punk revival: The Killers, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, etc.
