What is that you say ? A Pandemic in the 2000s decade ? Yupp... it happened alright. In June 2009 Swine Flu was all over the news as a serious threat ( so we thought) And yes stores did have sanitizer everywhere and were promoting it at this time.

When Sars happened hardly anyone took it srs in 02/03, atleast when Swine Flu happened u saw an effort to curb it with commercials on tv and stores pushing washing hands. So strange seeing fauci in a 2000s setting lol

I think swine flu was taken seriously but it wasn’t COVID levels. It didn’t screw with people’s lives.

I remember seeing posters about H1N1 and how we all had to wash our hands and cover our coughs with our elbows around third grade.
Despite this, normal life around the world still mostly proceeded. It wasn't that much of a significant hindrance as opposed to COVID 11 years later.

Yeah, I honestly thought COVID-19 was gonna go the way of swine flu and never to be mentioned again and gone by the end of the year. Clearly I was wrong.
