decade… Like in terms of the overall vibe, how would you describe it. This is how I personally see it.
1950s - conventional, family-oriented, boring 1960s - rebellious, politically active, psychedelic 1970s - funky, gritty, serious 1980s - dramatic, futuristic, glamorous 1990s - ironic, goofy, self-aware 2000s - raunchy, trashy, angsty 2010s - narcissistic, politically correct, escapist

It was the decade of hair metal bands like Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, and Poison. Anyways if there’s any decade I would say is classy, it would be the 20s and 50s. 50s especially since cursing was nonexistent in movies or TV.

Politicians are being exposed every month. 2020 happened(self explanatory). If I had to give another word for it it would be individualist because of the weak monoculture.

>80s >Classy

If you look at cartoons and video games from the 2010s, they have this really atmospheric vibe. Minecraft is the quintessential video game of the decade and Adventure Time is the quintessential cartoon of the decade. The 2000s were more over-the-top in my opinion. Usually they’d be edgy in the sense of pop culture having lots of swearing and sex.

90s childish, gross, futuristic I think the Gen X 90s were more gross and the millennial 90s were more futuristic. I wouldn’t say the decade as a whole was futuristic besides the end. I think the 80s was futuristic through and through. Sci-Fi and neon was popular throughout. Robots were very popular and common in the decade. The 2010s are like, the complete inverse. Instead of being future-oriented like the 80s and 90s was, the 2010s are extremely past-oriented. It’s all about reboots and shows looking back at previous decades. Even tech in the 2010s somehow feels less futuristic than 80s and 90s tech despite objectively being way more advanced. I think tech in the 2010s wants to aim for broad appeal rather than just geeks, hence why tech that actually IS just meant for geeks (I.e. gaming computers) still has a futuristic aesthetic.

Now that I think about it, I get the impression that if the 90s was a person, they’d almost certainly befit the stereotype of a nerd. Somebody’s who’s very big into technology and computers, poor hygiene, and generally introverted (compared to the 80s and 00s). Besides maybe the early 2010s, the 2010s as a whole don’t actually come off as particularly geeky, and neither does the 2000s. 2000s tech had more of a materialistic hip-hop vibe whilst 2010s tech had a social media/selfie/meme kind of vibe. Contrast that with the 80s and 90s.

Here are two videos for comparison as to how company's perception and target audience for tech has changed over time
2010s
1990s (and early 2000s too)
