Some people say it would be 2017-2019 because soundcloud rap but it was nowhere near as materialistic as early 10s swag culture. Swag was even it's own fashion with the snapback and everything.

I didn't see swag aesthetics become common until at least 2011. I remember browsing facebook in 2010 and taking a break in 2011 and coming back in 2012. I didn't see it at all on FB in 2010 but saw it all over the place in 2012. Real life reflected this as well.

The hypebeast era of the late 2010s was the 2010s equivalent of McBling. Not only were people very materialistic and image-conscious during this time, but people also obsessed over celebrities in the form of influencer culture, and hip-hop became the dominant genre of music once again
