Like what sorts of characteristics would you like in your preferred era? Here are my picks:
-More edgy than wholesome -Aesthetically gritty yet futuristic -Politically incorrect but also open-minded -Technologically oriented rather than politically oriented -Introverted, not family-oriented like the 50s or 80s but also not clique-ish like the 2000s -Long hair on guys -Rock is the most popular genre of music. Country is unpopular. Cheesy pop is unpopular. EDM and rap are also popular and varied. Wide variety within music in general. -The internet exists and is filled with weird, creative websites, rather than a few homogenous Big Tech websites -No cancel culture. Instead, there is a rockstar lifestyle where unless celebrities do something genuinely evil, they don’t get scrutinized. -No groupthink. More individualistic. -People criticize the media heavily and don’t blindly trust it.

Looking back at the 90s and how people acted truly makes me realize that, in spite of all the 90s revivalism we've seen in the 2010s and present, that our modern world really is the opposite of the 90s. Socially conscious rather than apathetic. Preachy and group-minded rather than individualistic and laid back. Streaming-oriented rather than physical media based. Oh yeah, that's another thing, have brick and mortar stores, cable TV (preferably with better customer service and cheaper prices than real life cable), and physical media all being popular. I actually like to own my shows and movies rather than have them removed because of some controversy I don't care about, or because of some deal made behind the scenes.

The early 2000s were very patriotic and anyone who didn't suck Bush's dick and didn't salute the flag every 5 minutes would be ostracized. The 2000s was very cliqueish. It was also more politically focused, I feel, than technologically focused. I think the mid 2000s are pretty cool actually. It was probably the least politically oriented era of the 2000s (post-9/11 patriotism, pre-Hope and Change), edgy rock music, MySpace was the most popular website for young people (a site that encouraged individualism and creativity vs narcissism and groupthink like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), and it was quite technologically changeful. Also a fantastic era for gaming (the peak of 6th gen and Windows XP gaming). Personally speaking, I feel like my personality and overall mindset would feel home in the mid 90s honestly. Rock, rap, and EDM were all equally popular, it was a very diverse time for movies, technology was changing rapidly, critical of authority but optimistic for the future, not politically oriented.

If that completely died off, I would definitely have a more positive opinion.

Futuristic but not dystopian. Internet memes are out of fashion or just generally not posted that much because of a backlash against then. Autotune is a long lost memory and people laugh at the days. Political divisions are dead, the only division is the people vs the elite. There's many more things but this is just off the top of my head.

I also agree about autotune lol I used to love them before around 2016 when everyone and their mothers and their fathers and their cousins and their cousins stepfathers uncles grandmas posted them 24/7. Ever since they've just became so worn out and annoying. It's exhausting seeing the same jokes every day until the next one takes over. And it doesn't even feel sincere and wholesome like early 10s memes. Just soulless like everything else post-2015.

Now that I think about it, you could say my ideal era looks like this: Society: Mid-Late 90s & Early 10s Music: Mid 90s TV: Late 90s to Early 10s (basically anything from 1997 to 2014 would be fine) Gaming: Mid 90s 2D games + Early-Mid 00s 3D games Internet: Late 00s Technology: Mid-Late 00s (+ VHS tapes and CDs + SOME modern tech (curved screens, foldable phones that don’t break) Fashion: Mid 90s (long hair and flannel shirts) Aesthetics: Mid 90s to early 00s + late 00s/early 10s

It was not a politically oriented era for the most part. The mid-late 90s (from about 1994 to 1999) were also not politically oriented.
