I'm not sure what it's like for everyone else, but I've noticed a bit of a difference since the Shoutbox was turned off.

I'm on the laptop at the moment and I've noticed that it's definitely loading a lot faster without the shoutbox.

#Infinity I inquired about the slow forum loading speeds that you are currently experiencing and I got a response from the Proboards Staff. This was the response I received: The Proboards staff member who responded to my inquiry is based in the United States as well. I'll look into the plug-ins that are operating on the forum and see if they are affecting the performance of the forum in any way.

I think the issue may have had to do with the Christmas theme you used throughout December. This site has been running significantly faster for me ever since you switched to a new year's theme. It still takes up more CPU than most of the other sites I visit, but fortunately, it's no longer distracting to me like it was earlier.

If that is the case, that's interesting to hear, because the "snow" plug-in is still running in the background (I've decided to leave it for the time-being, because it improves the look of the homepage IMO) and the files I used for the Christmas theme weren't significantly larger than the existing image files. I'm not sure if it helped or not, but I deleted a few image files which were on the forum's storage, but weren't being used in any way. It actually freed up about 4-5 MB for this theme, which may have improved the loading speeds.

I have made a significant change to the forum's coding, which will hopefully improve the overall loading speeds of the forum. There was a small amount of coding from a third-party service in the forum's homepage. It dated back to the very early days of the forum, when there was a "contact us" button situated in the bottom right-hand corner of the homepage. The function was disabled several months ago, however the coding for the function remained within the forum's HTML templates. When the web browser loaded the forum homepage, it was trying to retrieve code information from the third-party service, but because I disabled the function from the forum, it inevitably delayed the browser loading speeds (because it couldn't enable the function). Since I deleted the coding, I have noticed a significant improvement on the loading speeds of Popedia. I hope it has made a difference.
