You/a crappy reddit post don't get to decide when an era is over This is something that can only be seen with hindsight Lol everyone in the thread in various countries are saying that no one pays attention to it anymore. It's become irrelevant. Just because it hasn't been classified as endemic yet doesn't mean it's still relevant. Conversely, COVID was being talked about a lot and spreading globally for months before it was declared a pandemic.

Yeah the COVID era is basically fading away now. At least in America there’s no mask mandates anymore and big crowds are allowed now. I’ve still come across stores where masks are required but they’re a minority now.

Big epidemics tend to slow down majorly in Spring and Summer since people are more likely to be outside and buildings are more ventilated.
COVID will probably be back to be being an annoying omnipresent force in Fall and Winter.

"The U.S. is no longer in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the coronavirus's continuing global threat, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Biden. But Fauci also warns that people should still be mindful of the disease."
I knew the end of this was going to be anti climatic AF

It is still very much relevant. Look at Ontario and the restrictions they are still facing. All of them have to wear masks. In Canada, you are not allowed to board airplanes without the you-know-what... Here you don't need masks but you need the you-know-what to travel and even to work in some places. It is awful and nowhere near ending. Knowing this wicked government, next fall there will be new restrictions again and another lockdown. Next fall there will be a new strain and all of the world will be on lockdown again. Just as we witnessed in 2021 and 2020. It will never end.

Some places make employees where them (but not customers) which I think is dumb as hell, either both or no one.

It is awful. I feel sorry for the residents of Ontario.

For now I feel like Ukraine replaced it in the headlines and could serve as its unofficial end date. But we shall see.

i don’t think it’s over yet. covid isn’t even endemic levels and cases are still on the rise as quiet as it’s kept. also covid is still a topic of discussion as it pertains to masks and mandates etc. it may feel like the worst of covid is behind us but we definitely aren’t disconnected from the covid era in 2022

Where I live, there hasn't been a lockdown or pretty much any restriction(besides mask mandates in december) since may 2021.
