I didn't notice fortnite or PUGB popular at all in 2017. Mumble rap started taking off late 2017 but it got an added boost in early 2018. There is a difference between mid 10s and core 10s. I go by how strongly connected it isto the zeitgeist not numerically. It may be the last year of the decade but it is much more consisent with the decades identity than the XXX9 year of previous decades. Even you admitted Q1 2019 is 90% 10s. i noticed mumble rap taking off in late 2016 but that might because i live in metro detroit which is big on rap I noticed it every now and then since late 2014. But it started dominating late 2017 with the release of gucci gang

Fortnite wasn’t popular in 2017, but PUBG was. Granted, it became more pop In 2018, but that’s also when it peaked so… I remember fortnite in 2017. My cousin starting playing it nonstop in august of that year. granted it really really start to blowup until early 2018, but it was still popular in late 2017
