Core quarters:
Q1: 95% Late 10s 5% Early 20s
Q2: 85% Late 10s 15% Early 20s
Post-Core:
Q3: 75% Late 10s 25% Early 20s
Q4: 70% Late 10s 30% Early 20s
First half of the year felt way too 2010s for me with post reboot mortal kombat, avengers and GOT at their peak, idc if that's when tiktok merely started to get a little recognition but was still heavily overshadowed by instagram and billie eilish(who was only popular in the first year of the early 20s) had her first big hit. The early 20s vibe only started to properly become noticeable in Q4 although it was still mainly late 10s.

Q1 2019: 90% late 2010s, 10% early 2020s Q2 2019: 85% late 2010s, 15% early 2020s Q3 2019: 75% late 2010s, 25% early 2020s Q4 2019: 70% late 2010s, 30% early 2020s
I generally agree with NightmareFarm on his assessment of 2019. It was definitely more late 2010s throughout, and even Q4 2019, whilst not quite peak late 2010s anymore, still didn’t remotely feel like the early 2020s, especially since, y’know, COVID did not exist, nobody used Zoom, and the George Floyd protests hadn’t happened.

Tbh upon further revision, I think i'll tweak Q4 2019 to 70% late 10s. The final star wars sequel hadn't came out until late december and throwback pop really started taking off early 2020. This isn't even considering the elephant in the room(you know what) as well. Some people call Late 2019 - Early 2020 the fake early 20s but it didn't remotely feel like a new decade had culturally began on NYD 2020. The 2019 shift is kind of overblown.

The 2019 shift is kind of overblown. 2019 mostly just felt like 2018 part 2 honestly. TikTok was already taking off in late 2018 and it was even bigger in 2019. Fortnite was still popular, as were battle Royale games in general. The big thing for me that really ties 2019 together with 2018 was Avengers: Endgame, the long-awaited sequel to Infinity War, and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. Main things that made 2019 feel different from 2018 was Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X being popular, and the start of the 2020 election cycle, but otherwise, and I may get flack for saying this, but I truly think 2019 could be a twin year to 2018. It’s not as distinct as people think it is honestly. 2020 was WAY weirder and more distinct in my opinion.

There were some things in 2018 that had closure in 2019 like the infinity war era of avengers. Devil May Cry 5 was revealed in mid 2018 and came out in the next year as well. I didn't notice tiktok blowing up at all in late 2018 however. I might have seen it a few times but not enough to remember, i'm 100% sure i saw it in early 2019 though but it was still completely overshadowed by instagram, it wasn't until late 2019 when it started to become the dominant app for youth culture.

Q1 2019 wouldn't be any different from early 2018 if it wasn't for tiktok I'd say Mid 2018 to be precise, early 2018 was a bit transitional with battle royale games and mumble rap blowing up but yeah. Q1 2019 is definitely core 10s.

Q1 2019 wouldn't be any different from early 2018 if it wasn't for tiktok I didn't even notice TikTok back in Q4 2018. It was really Early 2019 when I started seeing people commonly posted TikTok links on the internet but it wasnt until Late 2019 when it started to become ubuquitous among zoomers. It was already well know by late 2018, but 2019 is when it started to have in impact in culture

Even in early 2019 instagram was still overshadowing it.

PUBG was already popular in 2017, although 2018 battle Royale games became even more popular. I also don’t consider Q1 2019 core 2010s in the slightest. It may be part of the 2010s zeitgeist, but by that point, it is pretty far removed from the hipster/EDM/Minecraft/selfie era.

I go by how strongly connected it isto the zeitgeist not numerically. It may be the last year of the decade but it is much more consisent with the decades identity than the XXX9 year of previous decades. Even you admitted Q1 2019 is 90% 10s.
