I'd say 1996 when the internet was really coming onto its own. GeoCities was in its prime, Angelfire had just been founded, the dot-com bubble was growing, internet forums were just starting to pop off, and 3D gaming was starting to take off. In addition, there were still the edgy vibes of the mid-90s in 1996, as represented by things like Beavis and Butthead and Duke Nukem 3D that were popular that year.

In addition, there were still the edgy vibes of the mid-90s in 1996, as represented by things like Beavis and Butthead and Duke Nukem 3D that were popular that year. that Summer in 96 was pretty unreal I have to say, I was at camp and they had these mini internet cyber stations that we could go on and look up Yahooligans lol Everyone was also talking about Nintendo 64 that summer, the hype levels were thru the damn roof. That edginess was still there indeed. I will honestly accept 1996 or 97, 97 WAS VERY WILD, VERY VERY in all caps WILD lol
