We all know the 2000s is a very flashy decade, but at what point was it at its flashiest? When maximalism and glossiness was at its height? For my vote, I pick 2007. This was the year Windows Vista came out, which is still to this day probably the flashiest version of Windows ever made. The McBling aesthetic was still going strong as well, exemplified by the likes of Souija Boy.

Let's just say the 2005-2006 school year or 2006-2007. Commercials on tv still had that stupid ink blot stencil design to them.

McBling finally died off that year. 2008 might've had the recession but aesthetically was still incredibly flashy. I distinctly remember 2009-2010 feeling more minimalistic and cleaner. Windows 7 and Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network's new logo define that school year for me.

Despite things getting minimalist a tiny bit in 2009 I still say 06 or 07 is the flashiest, even by 07 it was starting to become headache inducing. The 2000s in general became a self parody of itself by mid 2007, esp with movies like Spider-Man 3 destroying Emo. It can honestly be said 2007 is when the 2000s jumped the shark.

On the contrary, I think 2007 was one of the most beautiful years of the 21st century. 2008, 2009, and the first half of 2010 are in the same boat. Late 2010 is REALLY where minimalism really started to ramp up, and things started to become less flashy/glossy and more simple.

2005, though any years between 2002-2008 were very flashy to me.
I thought 2010 and 1st half of 2011 was flashy too. Late 2011 was when the flashy stuff was replace with more minimalist fonts of the 2010s.

Google Chrome changed their logo, Microsoft redesigned the Xbox 360 UI with a more minimalistic interface, Windows 8 Developer Preview came out, and things that defined the 2010s zeitgeist like Minecraft, Nyan Cat, and The Amazing World of Gumball came out. You did at least have glossy dark blue/black aesthetics continuing, although I'd say this was mostly a late 00s holdover.

2007 just because of how Jack Harlow reminded everyone how G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S that year was
