It's been a while since we've had a new atmosphere thread, but instead of just creating a new thread similar to the other ones, I thought I would do something a bit different and base the thread on what it was like to be in high school a decade ago. All of these photos were either taken by me or screenshotted by me at the time (with the exception of the single covers). I posted that Facebook status as well, btw! Basically, I was 13 at the time and 2012 was my first year of high school. It's an interesting year for me to look back on in retrospect, because the youth culture at the time was still absolutely, 100% Millennial and I pretty much got the tail-end of the electropop era as an early teen. People born in 1994 were the seniors (C/O 2012). The majority of the people in my grade already owned a smartphone by the time we all started (in February 2012), but they were still a bit of a novelty at the time and the other kids on the bus would compare each other's smartphones to see who had the better phone. Dubstep was huge and it was the last year scene still had any relevancy.

My first year of high school! It's hard to believe it was almost a decade ago. I remember most of the things you mentioned. Call Me Maybe was extremely popular in spring 2012, there was a dance that went along with it. Then, Gangnam Style was popular in the fall when I started high school.

One of the two years I'm stuck in. (The other being 2000.)
