There's a very similar thread to this one on inthe00s (then inthe80s) made in 1999 i think
Saying how the 90s were obsessed with the past and Nostalgia, and 90s culture was just s throwback to past trends

There's nothing remarkable about it to discuss, that's why. There's nothing remarkable about a decade while it's happening Cope. The 2010s were just boring as fuck.

And I'm not hating on the 2010s, but even many analysts of 2010s culture have pointed out the importance of nostalgia on that decade's culture compared to any other. And my point is that whilst we were in the 2010s, you never heard any songs or any movies say "it's the 10s, get with the times" Whereas you heard it a lot in the 80s and 90s.

They’ll usually say something along the lines of “201X ! Why are we still Xyz “ in response to something outdated.

We really only start to notice these things in hindsight. For example, we know now that 2000s nostalgia is nowhere near as big as '80s and '90s nostalgia was before. Will the same thing happen for the 2010s? Who knows.

It still took way longer for the 2000s to be nostalgic I don’t think so, early 80s nostalgia started to show up in the late 90s-early 2000s with freaks and geeks. It was in full swing by the late 2000s-early 2010s
