So I created a picture designed to showcase the mid-late 90s aesthetic using a hallmark of the time period: VHS tapes about using the internet. It involves blurred backgrounds, usage of real-life humans, and imagery involving things like eyes, globes, dinosaurs. Serif fonts (particularly Times New Roman), and metallic 3D textures.

I remember I had a cheesy guide to the internet with funky clip art that was handed out in a web design class in like 96 or 1997. I remember there was this glossary with words like www and search engine, web browser. damn it was corny.

I remember there was this glossary with words like www and search engine, web browser. damn it was corny. A LOT of guides to the internet and technology from around 1995-1997 are very cheesy. There was one about Windows 95 that had the Friends cast in it, and is a prime example of 90s cheese.

Definitely were, I don’t miss the clip art from that time lol The fact I was able to recreate that aesthetic in 30 minutes on Photoshop tells you how cheap they really were. To be fair, 2010s aesthetics look way worse and more bland, but I also think 2000s aesthetics were an improvement on the 90s for the most part.
