Many years are thrown around, however when did it really die?

I'll be completely honest and say this is not a channel I care much for. It's mostly just reruns of older sitcoms. They did have a couple original shows though, in an attempt to compete with Adult Swim. The first show that comes to mind is Glenn Martin DDS, which actually used to air ads on regular Nickelodeon, in retrospect a terrible idea given it's an adult cartoon. Adult Swim shows never aired ads on Cartoon Network proper. They were always treated as separate channels. IMO, if Nick @ Nite was ever going to succeed, they really should've put effort into it and made it its own thing. The reason why I don't think they did was simply that Viacom owns MTV and Comedy Central geared towards roughly the same audience as Adult Swim. But then again, they also own TV Land, which, ironically enough, originally started as a Nick @ Nite spinoff. So maybe that's why Nick @ Nite died. Because Viacom owns way too many channels and didn't want Nick @ Nite to compete with their own channels.

I would say the peak of Nick @ nite was 2000s when they had all those 80s shows on it.
