I had turned 9 and it was the best part of my childhood, so I loved it as it was going on.

I was 7 years old so idk What were you grown-ups thinking? I felt a shift was coming as soon as 2008 started tbh & not just because electro style music ( think Britney's Give me more) or the December 2007 recession start date happened. The 2000s culture was feeling really long in the tooth at this time.

Early 2008 was a lot better in my personal life along with the pop culture for the time. It felt more refreshing when you compare it to how wired the energy that 2007 had (though Nov and Dec 2007 was when the positive culture vibe had just kicked in full drive).

From January to even April you could feel 2007 had a "meh duh dead, long in the tooth" vibe, The 2000s was in a desperate need of life being injected into it.

I just remember pop culture being garbage like everything seemed to be dominated by Miley Cyrus and corny stuff during that time.
For my personal life I turned 13, so it was that awkward time. But I did enjoy my years in school since I made a lot of friends and wasn't depressed like I got in high school.

In 2007 it felt very futuristic during that time and separated from the classic pre-2006 2000s. Especially since you saw more flat screens TV, HD, and iPhones come out that year, and Blackberry / other slider phones were commonplace during that time which felt different from flip phones earlier in the decade.

It def did also with Timbaland music being everywhere. But I meant more the classic 2000s had a dull washed out vibe. I don't get how people say 2006 and 2007 felt the same ? They couldn't have felt more different lol

You could feel something about the 2000s was changing and missing but it wasn't 100% clear. Some of the changes introduced in 06 and 07 were starting to take more shape contributing to a sense of change from earlier, felt at the start, but there was more of a sense of a new direction around spring-summer 08.
