Will throwback pop stay for the rest of the decade?

I mean if it stops being as popular as it is now, do you think this is one of those trends that will linger on throughout the rest of the decade? I hope not. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the genre for what it is. But I just feel that will depressing if the 2020s are defined by retro stuff opposed to having its own identity with new trends.
