There may be others who disagree but this is the year I noticed Disney went down the drain. You had shows like Hannah Montana and movies like Highschool Musical come out this year. They were showing less re-runs of Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens that year too.

2006 was the rebrand of Disney, but I got news for you about 2007
The airing of High School musical 2 got 17.2 MILLION viewers, the highest ever in Disney Channel history and higher than anything Cartoon Network or Nick could pull off.

Everything HAD to be a musical or music-themed or have references to music back then It's weird because musicals were not popular AT ALL in the first half of the 2000s. Disney literally stopped making musicals after the release of The Emperor's New Groove. Musicals, collect-a-thon platformers, and teen pop were seen as cheesy during the edgy early 2000s. But then 2006 happened and suddenly there was a huge shift. I feel like in a weird way, stuff like High School Musical paved the way for things like Phineas and Ferb, Glee, and the Disney Revival. This is also why I consider 2005 the edgiest 2000s year. It was the last year before the teenybopper musical Wii era.

Once Disney saw the ratings they were never going to stop, they did put off a ton of people @ first when they switched the network up

I honestly don’t think Disney Channel went down the drain in 2006. If anything like it or not, 2006 was the peak year for all of the network. I still stand by statement.

You are not wrong, like I said High School musical 2 got 17 Million ratings. 17...17.... that is almost as big as the Super Bowl, Nick and CN could not even make it past 8 Million
