These pics take me back to what I wanted to look like when I was 4 or 5. (And actually, I did somewhat look like that, for a few months in 2001 when I had gelled hair.)

Apple Stores were a new thing at the time. One of the key things that Apple did that helped move us away from the Y2K era was the iBook G3 Snow releasing in early 2001. This was when you really started to see Apple phasing out their Y2K aesthetic products. They later replaced the iMac G3 with the G4 in 2002, and the Power Mac G4 with the Power Mac G5 in 2003. 2003 is when you started to see that metallic aesthetic on a lot of tech products, like the aforementioned Power Mac G5, and the Game Boy Advance SP.

Apple stores were so dope when they came out that Spring/Summer, at first I thought the clear y2k looking imacs were cool but by the time we got to 2001 it became super dated looking, I liked the all white look better. This design Apple stores had, they held onto it for like the longest time ( until like 2010 or 2011)

Yup, the Y2K era was dying fast at this point... Yupp rapidly, in May if you were keeping an eye on things you could notice a huge drop off, then June comes and it's like and by like late July 2001 Y2K is officially dead. August 2001 is like this no mans land right before the school season started where it's identiy was firmly placed but because we were all away that Summer for vacation we were adjusting to the new pop culture. The MTV VMA's in 2001 are the biggest one 2 punch because it established the new gen artists (Shakira,Michelle Branch,Jimmy Eat World) as the new guard.
