The Bourne Report, Lilo & Stitch, Spider-Man, Powerpuff Girls Movie, Austin Powers In Goldfinger, XXX, Spy Kids 2. I'd say pretty good all things considered. Though this summer did have two REALLY bad movies. Adventures of Pluto Nash, and Master of Disguise, both some of the worst movies to come out of the 2000s.

But Revenge of the Sith is pretty cool.

I would say no, summer 2002 had quite a bit to offer. The two biggest blockbusters that summer were definitely Spider-Man and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Spider-Man was good and Attack of the Clones was mediocre (I actually prefer it over the Phantom Menace though).

Spider-Man was good and Attack of the Clones was mediocre (I actually prefer it over the Phantom Menace though). The biggest problem with AOTC was the romantic arc between Anakin and Padme. It's not something you want to see in a Star Wars movie, and it's just plain cringy, like, Twilight levels of cringe. That said, I also think AOTC is "so bad its good" in a way. Anakin's acting and lines are terrible, but in a funny kind of way. There's a reason "I don't like sand" has become such an iconic quote. Phantom Menace tries to be funny with Jar-Jar, but instead it comes off as downright annoying, so for that reason, I also prefer AOTC over Phantom Menace, though don't get any ideas, I still think AOTC blows. The highlight of the movie, no question asked, is Jango Fett. When it's focused on the Clone Wars and stuff like that, that's when it's at its best. I think that's a major reason why Revenge of the Sith was such an improvement. It felt so much more focused. It was like the opposite of Phantom Menace. Whereas The Phantom Menace was overly juvenile and felt like a giant toy commercial, Revenge of the Sith was dark, gritty and badass. It was like another movie that came out that year, Batman Begins, which was a sharp contrast from the godawful Batman and Robin.

As for my favorite summer for movies in the 2000s, I'm thinking either 2004 or 2008. The movies from those two summers were fantastic. Summer 2004: Spider-Man 2, Shrek 2, Prisoner of Azkaban, Napoleon Dynamite, Anchorman, The Bourne Supremacy, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, I Robot Summer 2008: The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Kung Fu Panda, WALL-E, The Incredible Hulk, Step Brothers, Tropic Thunder Whilst both summers had tons of fantastic movies, Summer 2004 did also have Catwoman and Superbabies 2, and Summer 2008 had Disaster Movie (fitting title, because the movie WAS a disaster).

I prefer AOC over TPM but, I still don't like AOC overall though (I think it was just mediocre as a whole). There were so many cringy scenes in AOC, I remember there were "early internet" memes even back then about sand and the awkward romance hahaha. I did however, enjoy Revenge of the Sith though.

Yeah, AOTC is a major reason I don’t think Summer 2002 was a top-tier summer for movies. I think the best was Summer 2008, far and away. Summer 2004 was great too, but that summer also had Catwoman, which is one of the worst superhero movies ever made. Summer 2008 had fucking Dark Knight and Iron Man representing superhero movies that year. Have I made my point yet?

I thought 08 was pretty good for movies but Wall-E is like hated by everyone on the internet ( it didn't really hold up well) 04 is the cream of the crop imo, I know it did have Catwoman but other than that it was flawless
