2004 felt exactly the same all year long. It was one of the most, if not the most, consistent year of the 2000s.

Many mini shifts happened in 2004 actually - Spring all the classic 90s shows ended as will as Snick block ended - Toonami gets moved to Saturdays - Cartoon Network changes their logo and enters City era - Fall 04 Emo becomes defacto standard - Ryan Cabrera and Ashley Simpson blows up ( with Ashley's career ending due to SNL scandal ) - Xbox gets super popular ( even beat PS2 in several sales quarters due to Halo 2) - Myspace blows up Q4 - DSL replaces dial up ( most people switch)- Veronica Mars debuts - Laguna Beach debuts on MTV - Drake and Josh debut - Rescue Me debuts on FX - The Soup debuts on E! ( a very 2000s show) - Jetix debuts on Abc Family

One other shift that occurred in 2004 was that VHS tapes were almost completely irrelevant by the end of the year, whereas some people were still renting/buying them at the start of the year. Sure they were still being sold in stores, but nobody gave a shit about them.

I actually forgot about VHS during 03 lol DVD was so dope back in the early and mid 2000s Blockbuster video made a huge push to promote DVD's as early as 2001

Nu metal bands like Linkin Park and Evanescence were also still somewhat relevant in early 2004. By late 2004, it was all about Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

I also think it depends one what store you went to tbh, but I can say Blockbuster was full steam ahead with DVD in 2001 with gigantic "NEW DVD HERE" signs in the front glass windows, with 02-03 being the timeframe where they were getting rid of all the VHS tapes, sans the second to last aisle that had 80s movies that were not on DVD yet. Suncoast stopped selling Vhs around early 03 ( minus the Dragon Ball Z/GT orange brick tapes) I agree that 03 is when VHS became a figment of your imagination, I know Best Buy attempted to sell HD VHS or D-Theater in late 04 ( the silver VHS hd thing) but it lasted like 2 months and was pulled lol, they kept showing I-Robot on the screen, and it indeed looked good but it was 2 late for VHS, no one cared anymore. Also we still haven't made the jump to HD yet despite networks like FOX,NBC going HD as early as 02/03.
