Music was a lot more tolerable than the early 10s, not bland and depressing unlike the late 10s and there were actually some good hits that came out during this time like Blurred Lines, Love Runs Out, Am I Wrong, Cake By The Ocean, Want to want me, etc. Memes were still funny. The edginess that started seeping into meme culture in late 2015/2016 hadn't became stale yet. Gaming was exciting with 8th gen consoles being a novelty. The economy wasn't crappy like it was in the early 10s but at the same time the political divisiveness hadn't became a thing until 2016/2017 so politically it has the best of both worlds. It is the last era to have an innocent vibe to it(besides 2016).

FINALLY something we agree on lol. Yeah the mid 2010s was the most TOLERABLE part of the decade. The music and pop culture wasn't complete trash like the early and late 2010s.
Rather than just "mid 2010s" though, to be more specific I would say 2013 - 2015 was the best part for pop culture. These three years had the best music, memes, and pop culture in general.

On youtube all the AMVs used music from the 2000s because the current music at the time was awful. 2016-2019 felt too oversaturated with memes(still does now except memes are a little better in the early 20s) and superhero movies and music felt samey and shitty. mid 10s was also an exciting time for gaming with 8th gen consoles coming out before the hype wore off.

I find the mid 2010s the most untolerable portion of a decade of all time

I don't like how Sony pretty much dominated mainstream gaming during the mid 2010s though. Microsoft and ESPECAILLY Nintendo were doing terrible during this time. PS4 was literally the only console doing well. As such, it's the most monopolistic era in console gaming since at least the early 00s, if not late 80s. I prefer eras in console gaming that are more competitive, such as the early-mid 90s or late 00s/early 10s. 2013 was an exciting year for gaming, not gonna lie, but for me personally, the big thing I associate the mid 2010s with is really indie games and lets players. YouTubers like PewDiePie, Markiplier, and VanossGaming were everywhere back then, and titles like FNAF and Undertale received tons of attention, especially the former. Mainstream triple-A gaming, with VERY few exceptions largely disinterested me at the time.

The switch was rising in popularity but not reeally popular until like late 2019 at the earliest.
