As the thread suggests, discuss everything related to travelling and holidays here. I’m spending most of my summer holidays up in sunny Queensland this year. I went up there earlier in the year but I really wanted to see a few more things that I didn’t get the chance to last time, so decided another trip was really worth it (hopefully the weather isn’t too bad considering I’m going up there in Queensland’s typically unsettled weather this time of the year!).

I hope the two of you have a really nice time away. I'm off to Tasmania in three weeks time. I'll be down there for almost a fortnight and i'm returning home just after Australia Day.

I’m up there for a week and half so hopefully the weather is relatively stable during that timeframe. Enjoy the week in Bright mate. I hope the two of you have a really nice time away. You enjoy your time with whatever you decide to end up doing in Tassie. Hopefully the weather doesn’t get too hot for you while you’re down there (you said you were going to be mainly in the North-West this time so it shouldn’t get any warmer then around the mid-20s mostly).

That's about how long It took me to go from Gisborne back to Auckland, I guess I could say I was pretty bored although the scenery is always nice to look at and I had to make a really long playlist on my phone becasue some of the radio stations down there are

The far eastern part of Victoria is quite remote and between the NSW town of Eden and the Victorian town of Lakes Entrance, it is basically only forest for 230 kilometres! Only 2,500-3,000 people live between the two towns, so there were no radio stations (with the exception of the ABC, which is our national broadcaster) as a result. At least the drive between Gisborne and Auckland would have been more enjoyable.

One of the things i noticed about Australia when I was driving around and maybe isn't the best thing is that all of the forests look the exact same no matter where you go, there's just Eucalyptus trees everywhere! Whereas in New Zealand you don't have to travel far and your in a completely different biome, even though it's a much smaller country.

Although, i'm currently in the Latrobe Valley at the moment, which is a region situated 1.5-2 hours to the east of the Melbourne CBD. I agree that our forests generally look very similar to each other. New Zealand, Canada and even the US seem to be much more variable.

Well, after a little over a week of hols up in sunny Queensland, plus a few days split between NSW (Coffs Harbour) and Melbourne, it‘s nice to be back home again! How is everybody’s holidays going/gone? SharksFan99 , how is your Tassie trip going? I assume you’re still down here?

I always really enjoy coming down here each year.

I always really enjoy coming down here each year. It was really good, thanks. The weather was really warm, humid and sunny for the most part as you’d expect up in Qld (thankfully no storms! ). Was much cooler in Coffs Harbour for the day I spent there (never visited before but a beautiful little city I must say!), and very hot in Melbourne with consecutive 40c days while I was there. A very mixed bag of weather from each state I guess!

Bet you wish you could stay longer, eh? I trust the weather has been good for you? Nice mild mid-20 temps knowing the North-West this time of the year. What did you get up to anyways?
