I only see one or two people wear a mask on average each week in the UK.

I was at the mall yesterday and almost nobody was wearing a mask. Even when I go to Target usually very few people wear masks. Over here people only wear masks when it’s required.

yes i agree, the covid era is not over. a lot of people still wear masks in certain places (public transportation, public gatherings, etc.). a mask now seems like more of a choice but it’s still prevalent along with other aspects of covid. i think the covid era will be over maybe in 2023

At this point I'm not sure the public presence of masks is even indicative of the "covid era" as much as it has become a way of life for a lot of people. We'll need more time to see whether they essentially become an accessory that isn't too out of place in the West or if they truly can fade out by the middle of the decade. There have been cited cases/treatments for "mask addiction" in Japan prior to 2020 so I do think it remains a possibility that the 5-10% who are continuing to wear them may not stop any time soon.

some people i don’t think will ever take them off Types of forever maskers: -paranoid, perhaps OCD, ~mask addict~ -Martyr Complex, “I care” -wants to hide face for various social and cosmetic reasons
