The evolution of pop-rock during the 2010s:
2010:
"Whataya Want From Me" probably isn't the greatest example since it sounds more like a holdover Late 2000s-style pop-rock song, however it was one of the biggest rock hits on the charts worldwide in 2010.
2019:
Shawn Mendes' role in helping to keep rock within touching reaches of the mainstream during the Late 2010s is very understated. "There's Nothin' Holdin' Me Back" is an out-and-out rock song with its aggressive electric guitar chords during the chorus and strained vocals, while "In My Blood" is very Kings of Leon-esque. Sure his overall image and sound may be heavily pop-orientated, but you could make the case that the majority of his single releases (excluding "Lost in Japan") are pop-rock.

Just a reminder that The Smurfs and The Simpsons both premiered in the same decade 1981 1989 Gaming changed SIGNIFICANTLY in the 1990s 1990 1999 Still weird to think Windows ME and 7 came out the same decade. Literally feel like entirely different planets. 2000  2009
