100% agreed Vine, hashtags, bronies, hipsters, Windows 7 & 8, skeuomorphic iOS, Minecraft, Smosh, EDM (including Avicii, who was dead in 2019), and Tumblr is such a huge contrast from TikTok, wojaks, Big Mouth, hypebeast culture, Windows 10, flat design everywhere, Fortnite, Mr Beast, mumble rap, and VSCO. if nightmare’s argument is that both years had social media and cell phones then you might as well say 2022 is core 2010’s as well The early 20s in itself just feels like a modified version of the late 10s other than Biden being the new president. That is a big part of the reason why, we are still in the social media and smartphone age.

No but you're cherrypicking the two ends of the core spectrum why group them together if they have nothing in common They both have a strong 10s feeling. But when you compare the two opposite ends of the spectrum obviously they're going to be noticeably different. Some people consider 2003-2008 the core 00s yet the difference is day and night.

There hasn't really been a revolutionary tech jump since social media, smartphones and tablets became normalised back in the early 10s.

Dial-up internet, social media isn't popular yet, old Cartoon Network logo, some people still using Windows 98/2000, nu metal, iPods aren't ubiquitous yet, etc. But 2004-2008? To me, that seems a lot more cohesive, hence my banner LMAO.

2013 does feel way more 2010s than 2019. Not only that but 2013 and 2019 felt worlds away from each other in terms of many things. Hyper-polarization in politics weren't a thing in 2013, Instagram wasn't a professional or an Influencer-oriented platform, and skeuomorphic/Fruitger Aero designs were somewhat relevant.

You had the finales for so many iconic 2010s media that year such as Avengers, GOT, Star Wars and Instagram was the top dog social media. Mumble rap was at its peak, the PS5 wasn't even confirmed until Q4 when the trailer for Godfall was revealed. In the first half of the year, you had GOT and Avengers being talked about everywhere whilst everyone is using Instagram and dating apps like Tinder and listening to mumble rap. That screams 2010s to me.

I did not say 2019 was more 2020s than 2010s, because I also think 2019 was more 2010s, but there were significant 2020s influences in 2019.

I thought you meant if it weren't for the pandemic, it would be more 20s. There were the roots of 20s pop culture in 2019 but its more like it was 70% Late 10s culturally and 30% Early 20s. It's overblown if you ask me, I didn't feel like we were entering a new era before the pandemic whatsoever.
