What do you think about the argument that drag is a form of appropriation towards females?

What do you think about the argument that drag is a form of appropriation towards females? Is being a woman a singular culture that a man can appropriate and benefit from ?

While I think they're far from the same, I think this does draw attention to some of the the inconsistencies in "woke" entertainment. What makes something okay to poke fun at, and what not so much? This will be a continual topic. Trying to make drag into family entertainment under some guise of "empowerment" is in my opinion where this went wrong. I think to some extent we can allow things to exist while knowing they're a little raunchy, for adults, etc. We can draw lines somewhere but not everything needs to be made out as progressive either.

Drags existence isn’t about making fun of cisgender women though, it basically started as a way to subvert strict gender roles. You could argue comedians on Instagram and YouTube who cross dress(barley if that) by putting a wig on and make fun of the cis women in they’re lives for things like periods that’s out of they control is sexist and offensive but that’s not really a drag performance. What exactly comes the danger of kids attending a supervised drag show with parents in the vicinity and water downed for family audiences.

No, and about that tweet: no one ever said it's something children need to experience

I agree that children shouldn't be exposed to the busty drag performances though. Other than that, drag shows weren't created to degrade a demographic. Minstrel shows were.
