the trend of obsessing about pronouns- particularly putting pronouns in your bio, has been growing in the past few years. it started brewing on tumblr and other “woke” circles in the mid 2010’s but really started to spread around 2019 when people started posting it on their profiles on tiktok, instagram, twitter, etc. what are your thoughts on this trend?

I mean I don’t mind pronouns in people’s bios, and I make sure to respect them. It’s only a problem when people OBSESS over them to the point of making it their identity. It’s one of the least bothersome aspects about woke culture though to say the least.

It’s one of the least bothersome aspects about woke culture though to say the least. i’m fine with the pronouns in bio i just think it’s dumb especially if you’re very clearly male or female. but i’m sorry i’m not calling someone a made up word like “ze” or “xe” pronouns are supposed to make language easier not harder. i also don’t get “she/they” and “he/they.” if you give someone the option they’re going to call you he or she. personally i just don’t give a fuck what people call me

It's fine, not a real problem at all
It's something that really only exists inside the internet

It's fine, not a real problem at all It's something that really only exists inside the internet This. I never hear anyone talking about their pronouns in real life. Ofc, it could depend on where you live. If you live somewhere very liberal and LGBT-oriented, like the San Francisco Bay Area, you might hear people talk about their pronouns. But in most of America, including where I live, they don’t. And even then, most people who put their pronouns in their bio don’t really talk about LGBT stuff beyond that. It’s only annoying if they obsess over it and make it their identity. But honestly, at this point, I’d rather deal with those sorts of people then the no-fun cancel culture warriors that define modern internet culture.
