Seems like a dumb decision to me. HBO Max is doing really well. I don’t see the point in merging it with Discovery Plus, especially since both cater to different forms of entertainment. Why not just have both running simultaneously? Disney has Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu all operating.

Honestly, I use HBO Max more than many other streaming services due to Max having more consistency, affordable price points (moreso than Netflix), and having high-quality shows and exclusive movies. This really is gonna be a terrible decision if it goes through.

I personally like HBO Max the most because I’m a big fan of animation, and IMO, HBO Max easily has the best cartoons of any streaming service. The fact you can watch Adventure Time, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and South Park on the same platform is amazing to me. I really don’t want that taken away. There will definitely be huge backlash if this is actually announced.

It seems like the trend towards merging/bundling is just to make people feel like they're saving money at first, then ultimately to have the prices go up later. Years ago I said cable needed to go a la carte so you weren't paying for all these things you didn't want, and for a minute it seemed like the market was showing promise. Unfortunately I now theorize that model loses too much revenue for these companies' liking and we'll essentially be going back to square one.
