A different world lol. I wonder if ironic memes were even a thought before like 2015, now shits post-ironic whatever that means lol. Ironic memes were starting to become a thing in 2014. Shrek is Love, Filthy Frank, lenny face, hell, some even argue MLG memes/montage parodies were ironic. In 2012, memes were generally simplistic. You did start to see some ironic memes on 4chan, but for the most part, they were relatively simple. I actually think early 2020s wojak memes are sort of a return to the early 2010s rage comic era, but more cynical.

I think memes right now are like "21st Century humor", Quandale Dingle, and etc. Even text macro came back but it's used in a very different way than in the early 2010s.
