I adore that Aero design, possibly my favorite aesthetic of all-time and I'm glad it finally recieved a name. The backlash against it in the mid-2010s was such a heartbreaking tragedy honestly.

As much as I enjoy the pleasant and eye-calming flat aesthetic, I still prefer frutiger Aero because of the nostalgia and futurism.

I get that flat is sort of more "tasteful" at this point but it's also starting to feel very generic.

I feel the flat design is a step back. It's like we're living in olden times again. The aero look happened with the computer revolution since it was meant to show off what computers can do with design graphics. Now we're back to boring old flat design like we stepped backwards completely. I think VR may change that though since flat design is non-existent in VR for obvious reasons.

See this is the exact environment of something you would find in VR. Which is why I think we'll come back to this soon when VR takes off.

Noticed a bit of a rise in 'Frutiger Aero' tweets and a rise in viewers watching Undefined's first video on Frutiger Aero this weekend. Seems like Tiktok has gotten some more people talking about the aesthetic, in a positive or a critical light. One tweet thread in (what I classify) the latter category: nitter.lacontrevoie.fr/aetherphase/status/1596932927341764608#mI'm only sharing this one because the third tweet in the thread got me laughing! By the way, I wonder what xamo 's thoughts are on this + what's happening with the aesthetic choices and the culture in general, now that we're at the latter end of the year...

I also saw videos on Tiktok talking about this aesthetic. Not surprising because it is super nostalgic to look at.

I also saw videos on Tiktok talking about this aesthetic. Not surprising because it is super nostalgic to look at. Now the YT algorithm has pushed Undefined's video linked here and look how many views it has at this moment. When I first saw the video, sometime after it was posted, it didn't have many views (if I remember correctly, it must have been ~1,000 views). The initial TikTok popularisation got it to the 10,000 view mark and now the YT algo spiked it tenfold, getting up to near 200k at the time I'm typing this. It's nice to see the positive comments about this aesthetics, though the more critical ones hidden beneath them do bring up fair points on the contrary, like the cheapness/tackiness of FA employed by many corporations, the irony of using FA to market a corporation as enviromentally friendly when it's not, the employment of FA to bring more people into the tech-dependent world we are in now, etc. etc.
That got me thinking...will FA be positively looked upon by the wider public not as in the know to this sooner and when will the TikTok/YouTube/Twitter/Reddit crowd dump FA for another aesthetic?
