Inspired by John Titor's thread. Which 2010s years had the most innocent vibe, and which had the least? I would say
Most Innocent 1. 2010 (nothing really bad happened aside from the Haiti earthquake. Nobody cared about politics, and pop culture was upbeat) 2. 2011 (This year saw the Occupy Wall Street protests, and the Arab Spring, but also the assassination of Osama Bin Laden, which ended up giving this year a very upbeat and happy vibe) 3. 2012 (We all thought the world was going to end this year, but it didn't, and besides the SOPA/PIPA internet protests and the emergence of fourth wave feminism, this year was still relatively calm and innocent) 4. 2013 (besides the Boston Marathon bombing and the Edward Snowden innocent, this was the last truly calm and innocent year before everything went to shit) 5. 2019 (this year felt unusually calm, with nothing really bad happening, and pop culture becoming more lighthearted vs 2014-2018. The only reason this year isn't ranked lower is because Trump was still president) 6. 2015 (This year was a major mixed bag, because on the one hand, you had gay marriage being legalized and greater trans awareness, but on the other, this was the start of Trump's political career, with him announcing his run for president. I also remember the alt-right having an increasingly strong presence during this time, especially on YouTube) 7. 2014 (this year saw Gamergate, the Ferguson riots, the start of the Black Lives Matter movement, and liberal/woke politics entering pop culture. The only reason this year isn't ranked higher is because Trump wasn't president yet.) 8. 2016 (dominated by the 2016 election. YouTube and the internet in general became a lot more toxic from this point forwards, with there being drama everywhere) 9. 2018 (very similar to 2017. The Parkland shooting, emo rap at its height, Xanax, more MeToo allegations) 10. 2017 (by far the least. Mass shootings everywhere, the start of the MeToo movement, Trump's first year in office, protests everywhere, emo rap, and so on) Least Innocent

Actually I would move 2019 #2 spot to be honest, that year was too quiet and too calm, but you knew something was going to happen ( if you read my astro forecast threads ) Pop culture did indeed feel more lighter, TONS of box office smashes that year like End Game, Aladdin, Detective Pikachu and etc and etc

How could you say 2017 was least innocent? Lol. You had Nintendo Switch, Fidget Spinners, Despacito, Something Just Like This, the Solar Eclipse, Pokemon Go, and so much more... You must really hate Trump lol.

It's not like it stopped existing just one year later... Terrorist attacks? Well yeah, that's the world we live in... There won't be a single year without a terrorist attack. The problem is media fear mongering. You won't have a good life if you base on how good or how bad a year is depending on the politician who is in charge.

Also the movies in 2017 sucked like Star Wars. Also even tho Pokemon go was still around in 2017 it was no longer (Avengers Endgame) type of watercooler talk anymore. The fad was over.

I remember seeing groups of people huddled around some areas outside in summer 2017 playing Pokemon Go. Just because it isn't talked about constantly like in 2016 doesn't mean it dropped off the face of the earth.

Of course there was some bad stuff in 2017 like every year. But 2017 was still one of the most innocent years of the 2010s. I felt like a kid again making my own solar eclipse goggles and viewing the solar eclipse that year. I even bought a fidget spinner and got a free fidget cube from my university. Despacito was blasting everywhere that summer. And Nintendo Switch!?!? How do you guys not see these fads and trends as innocent? Name one 2010s year that tops this year in terms of innocence from the fads and trends it has. Maybe 2013, but that's it..
