legendary parachutist and USAF veteran Col. Joseph Kittinger has passed away at the age of 94. :\'(

Col. Kittinger rose to fame after jumping out of a balloon at an altitude of 102,000 feet.
He achieved a top speed of 614 MPH in that fall, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for it. 8)
He later served three tours in Vietnam, the third one being voluntary. He was shot down by a Mig-21 aircraft and spent 11 months imprisoned at the “Hanoi Hilton”.
