By Gen Z, I am talking about those born in the '00s, particularly 2002+. (I still consider '97-'99 to be Gen Y regardless of what Pew says)
I am so thankful my middle school years were in 2009-2012 and not post-2015. Look at how toxic Gen Z humor and meme culture is, with all the Wojak memes, the Virgin Chad memes, how they like political memes despite having a very childish understanding of politics, etc. This is in no way coincidental to the fact that this demographic was mostly in their immature elementary or middle school years during the Trump presidency.
Granted, culture surrounding my age bracket back in 2009-2012 was by no means desirable either, with Call of Duty and Doritos & Mountain Dew culture going on at the time, but at least we were largely staying away from political shit at the time, because all the politicians on the high level were all good-mannered and "boring" people, which was not at all the case with Trump.
From what I experienced back in 2009-2012, I can only imagine how much worse it I were six years younger and my middle school years were 2015-2019 instead with Trump in the picture, how much more toxic the overall atmosphere would have been. I can also only imagine how much worse bullying has gotten because of it as well.
