Do you think there's any benefit to them? And could you ever see yourself being a vegan?
I have somewhat mixed feelings on it. I can respect the moral reasons for going vegan. I can understand someone going vegan if they dislike meat in general. I can even admit that there might be some health benefits to it. However, I do think vegan diets are susceptible to eating disorders or to an extent, mental health problems. A lot of people with eating disorders will use veganism as a socially acceptable way to exclude food (I actually know someone who is like this) it also involves the practice of excluding food groups, which isn't always ideal if it's not for health reasons. There's a reason why many programs for treating eating disorders don't allow a vegan diet. People with eating disorders (specifically anorexia) are already excluding food in the first place, whether they were originally vegan or not, and the goal is to get them to not exclude any food groups and have a healthy relationship with food.
I also think it takes a lot of motivation and courage to stay vegan for years. When you're vegan, you have to watch everything you eat. You have to look at the ingredients of everything you're buying. It may not seem too bad at first, but I can't imagine that thinking about food like this too much can be mentally healthy. Not to mention it's a bit more difficult to obtain protein in the diet while vegan (although definitely not impossible)
I definitely don't think a vegan diet is for everyone, and I personally wouldn't go vegan myself, as I'm a big meat eater.

That vegans are better off eating actual vegetables than fake meat.

And that it's usually not the best decision anyway.
