It doesn't have an identity. Other than world events and politics, this decade is practically the same in pop culture as the 2010s. Movies are just worse but they were already bad by the mid 2010s. Music is just based on nostalgia, there's nothing unique that ties it to the 2020s. It's just these fads that could have easily been popular and were popular in the 2010s. Tik Tok could have easily been popular in the 2010s it's not earth shattering different. Progress has just ended, there's nothing new. Vision Pro is so corny. AI is not mainstream... There's nothing different.
2000s was the last decade that had anything different. Everything started to suck and all progress stopped in the late 2000s / early 2010s.

You've definitely got a point. If someone were to ask me what is something that is uniquely "2020s", apart from the pandemic, I would probably struggle to think of too much else.

Its still too soon to assume. We could see a big turn of events in 2 years. 2025 seem promising. I feel like Corona will be a big identity for the 2020s as many will be nostalgic and will view it a special period. TikTok Ban, Hip Hop decline may unfortunately be partial, ai in music, etc. Despite the Covid outbreak, 2020 and 2021 were peak years. I was a member in Planet Fitness at the time and a hand full of fascinating music were released during this period for me.

I predict Corona will always be associated with the 2020s but 2020s pop culture will truly take off in its second half.

I do feel like it's too early to tell, we aren't even halfway through. I feel like 2014 still felt kinda like the 2008-2011 kinda period, 2004 still felt similar to late 90s, etc. I think the differences in those previous decades were indeed more clearly defined, but that's because it was 10-20 years ago...hindsight etc etc

With that said though, I also feel as though the days of each decade having a unique look, sound etc. are now a thing of the past. There's always going to be new releases and new trends which come into play, but going forward, I don't think we will have decades which will have the same cultural identity as say, the '80s or the '60s. I could easily see the 2020s being the first decade to not have one. Pop culture and the entertainment industry have become too fragmented now, especially now with the rise of AI.

That's sad I hope that doesn't happen but it seems to be leading that way since there were no pop culture changes for at least 4 years.
