www.abc.net.au/news/science/2018-01-31/blue-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-over-australia/9318544A total lunar eclipse will occur on Wednesday, 31st January. Australia and New Zealand are set to be in the prime position for the event, although the lunar eclipse will also be visible in the Northern Hemisphere. The event is rare in that it will be the first time in decades that a total lunar eclipse, a blue moon and a "super-moon" will occur at the same time. In some parts of the world, it will be the first time in over 150 years! Are you planning on seeing the eclipse? If the night sky is clear, i'm planning on going for a drive and taking a few photos of the eclipse.

Unfortunately it’s overcast here at the moment and according to longaotian it is where he is at the moment too. Hopefully it will clear up later on for tonight’s event at around 11pm onwards.

It's very overcast here in the Illawarra as well. From my location, the sky is almost entirely covered by clouds. Pretty disappointing.

Apparently we will get another chance to see a total lunar eclipse in the early hours of July 28. If all fails and I can’t see it tonight, there will be another total lunar eclipse in January next year (however I’ll have to do a bit of travelling to North or South America to get the best view of that one as it won't be visible from Australia! ).

While it's good to know that we will get to see a total lunar eclipse in a few months time, if it's in the early hours of the morning, I more than likely won't get a chance to see it. Haha. Have you had the chance to see a total lunar eclipse before? I have only ever witnessed one, which was back in December 2011.

I partially saw the one in 2015. But again, it was mostly overcast that night and I didn’t get the best view of it. Fingers crossed I will this time though!

I only saw a really bright moon. Disappointing! It might still be a bit too early for Canada. If you noticed that the moon was really bright, it may be a sign that the lunar eclipse shouldn't be too far off.

I think I might've seen a little bit of an eclipse, it didn't look like a full moon to me, but then again the moon was so bright I was seeing double. I need to get glasses!

Seems like the weather hasn't been favourable for all of us! It's very overcast here as well, and EyewitnessTV , @zampakid & longaotian all mentioned that it is overcast at their locations as well.

I mean of course this had to happen right on time: www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2018/01/super-blue-blood-moon-vs-cyclone-fehi-who-will-win.html, it's not like it only occured 150 years ago dammit!

Well change of plans, the sky is starting to clear and I can see the earths shadow growing on the moon.
