In a similar vein to a recent thread SharksFan99 started, how often do you upgrade to a new computer (whether it be a desktop or laptop)? For me personally, I’ve only ever owned 4 computers (2 desktops and 2 laptops) in my lifetime of using them. I guess because I’m currently in a job which doesn’t require me to constantly upgrade every year or so to the latest and greatest - that and I’m not made of money to upgrade so frequently. Currently, I own an ASUS desktop for gaming and such and a Apple Pro laptop for video editing etc. I’ve had the ASUS for about 3 years now and the MacBook for 4 years

Great thread idea EyewitnessTV! I've owned about 6 computers in my lifetime. (5 laptops and 1 desktop). I would upgrade a computer every 4-5 years depending if it's becoming outdated. I currently own a HP 15" Touchscreen Laptop which it's used for browsing and light tafe work on the go, and I own a custom built desktop computer used for gaming, video/picture editing and major TAFE assignments.

I've only ever owned three computers. My first computer was a black Toshiba Satellite (I think...I know that it was definitely a new Toshiba model), which I received for Christmas back in 2010. I bought my current laptop (a HP Pavilion) in Early 2014, because my Toshiba laptop was beginning to die. By Early 2015, my Toshiba laptop was no longer operating and as a result, I got rid of it. I was fortunately able to retrieve all of the files stored on the Toshiba hard-drive and transfer them over to my external hard-drive.
A year later, I purchased a small, pre-owned Dell laptop for $200. I wanted a laptop to bring to school and my HP Pavilion was too big to fit in my school bag, so I decided to buy a laptop for that purpose. It came in handy, because I was able to work on assignments during free periods or any time that I wasn't busy with work.
I generally don't upgrade to a new computer, unless I have to. My HP Pavilion is still operating perfectly and it's adequate for what I use it for.

I used an old Widnows 95/98 desktop that my family had from 1998-2005, a Windows XP desktop that my family had from 2006-2012, a Toshiba laptop for myself from 2013-2016 and in Late 2016 I got a new gaming PC.

Thanks. I also own a Samsung Galaxy tablet which I’ve had since last year. Before that I had a iPad I won in a competition which I had for 4-5 years. I should have mentioned that tablets (Galaxy, iPad etc.) can also be listed.

I never upgrade as such.
Usually just buy a laptop when I feel like a new one and sell one I'm sick of.

Every 2-3 years. I'm thinking of building a new gaming PC but with current GPU shortage/prices as a result of the cryptocurrency craze, I might have to wait a while.
Our first computer was a Windows 95/98 by Fujitsu (I think) with a CRT monitor from 1997-2003. We actually kept it all the way till 2008, but that was my brother's computer after that, not mine.
The next was an NEC on Windows XP (with an LCD monitor) that I used 2003/2004. We kept until 2009, but it was my (other) brother's computer from then on.
Then I got an Acer laptop on XP in 2005 for school. It was terrible! I got a laptop by some no-name Canadian company called Vectron in 2007 (still XP), and kept that till 2009 until the charger stopped working. It was actually a really good laptop.
In 2009 me and my brother saved money and built a gaming PC together, running on Windows 7. I bought a Samsung netbook (running on 7) for school in 2010 and it was the worst.
In 2011 my brother had no use for his Toshiba laptop so he gave it to me. In 2013 when I was temporarily very wealthy thanks to my student loans I used it to buy a Lenovo Yoga 13 (laptop/tablet hybrid) running on Windows 8. That was the best laptop I owned! Unfortunately the hinge that transforms it into a tablet broke off almost two months after my warranty expired, and they had no way to fix it.
I'm stuck with this 13-inch Macbook that I bought off my friend in 2016, and I hate Mac OS lol. I really need to get rid of it.

That depends on how long it continues to work. However, before everyone in my family had their laptop, we had a desktop for about 6/7 years.
