This is inspired by the Weather & Climate thread. What are the hottest/coldest temperatures you have ever experienced? The hottest temperature I have ever experienced is 47c (116 F). The Illawarra experienced a severe heatwave several years ago and I remember the temperature climbed to 47c at my location. It was horrible, because there was no relief from it. The coldest temperature I have experienced is -8c (17 F), which was when I went to the Snowy Mountains back in 2009.

It was a horrible experience, because the aircon was broken at the time so there was no relief until a strong southerly came around 6pm. The coldest temperature I have experienced is -1.5c when I stayed in Canberra for a night in 2006.

Considering the fact that I live in a tropical country, the hottest temperature I experienced is about 40℃ and the coldest temperature is about 21℃(plain)/16℃(plateau)

Good thread idea SharksFan99 . Oh, that’s precise of you. As for myself; Hottest - when I was travelling around the Blue Mountains, NSW, back in January 2009. On that particular day it reached just over a staggering 48c. Also, one day while I was in Adelaide back in 2010 it wasn’t far off a 47c stinker either. These are easily the worst days I’ve experienced. Coolest - Whenever I travel up Mt. Wellington during winter it’s quite cold, usually hovering around -5c. However, I’ve been in Canberra during the depths of winter before and it gets really cold there with lots of -4,5,6,7’s etc.

I've witnessed both extremes and can verify that extreme hot is better. Hottest – It was either in Kuwait or Qatar. It got up to 50C. Coldest – not too long ago when the windchill dropped to -41C here north of Toronto, but without windchill the coldest was a bit below -30C.

I couldn't even imagine what -41C and 50C would be like.

Back in 2009 there was a record breaking heat wave here in the pacific northwest and Seattle topped out at 103F (39.5C). At the time I lived slightly more inland and further away from Seattle and out there it managed to hit 108F (42C). This lasted for 3 whole days.It was one of the worse things I've ever felt.
And the coldest temperature I ever felt was in December of 2016. It was about 18F (-8C) outside.

I remember I went up to the summit back in January 2017 and it would have only been 9-10C at the time, even though it was 20C in Hobart!
